Connector Polish: UPC vs APC and Return Loss
Why the 8° angle matters for return-loss-sensitive links.
UPC (flat) returns around -55 dB of reflected light; APC (8° angled) pushes that past -65 dB. For analog CATV, RF-over-fiber and high-gain receiver front-ends, APC is mandatory. We explain when the green connector matters and how mixed UPC/APC patch panels must never be mated.
